What conditions are treated with the laser?

Traditional hair removal techniques, such as shaving, plucking, waxing and depilatory creams provide only temporary relief. Until now, the only recognized way to remove hair permanently has been by electrolysis-which can be tedious, time-consuming and uncomfortable.

The laser hair removal safely removes unwanted body hair without damaging the delicate pores and structures of the skin. Facial and bikini areas are usually completed in under ten minutes; legs, backs and larger areas can take longer.

How it works

The laser beam is absorbed to melanin contained in hair and eliminates the subcutaneous cells which produce hair in the follicles. Thus, new hair will never grow from the laser treated follicle. A series of treatments are necessary since hair is produced in stages. The laser can only eliminate those hair which surfaced to the epidermis.

How many treatments are necessary to eliminate hair completely?

A minimum of 5 treatments are necessary to successfully remove hair although it depends greatly on individual. In general, average of 8 to 10-time-treatments are necessary. However, in the case of light-colored-hair, dark skin or for those who can not endure an appropriate intensity of the laser, it may take longer than 10 to 12 times since applied laser beam would be of less power. The treatment should be repeated every 4-6 weeks to achieve the best result. After a few treatments, our medical doctor will examine your condition and advise you when the treatment should be completed.

What should be done before the next treatment?

In order for us to serve you at your convenient time, please make an appointment about I week in advance. For subsequent appointments, please shave the areas on the day. Do not use wax.

Please protect the treated area from the sun during the series of treatments. For the bikini line treatment, please wear your own bikini bottom. For the underarm treatment, put on a tank top or a sleeve-less shirt.

What is the procedure?

Prior to the treatment, we check the skin condition of the treated areas. We might not be able to offer the service if there is a sun tan, scars, or other skin problems. Following the shaving of the affected areas, the laser treatment will be performed by a trained aesthetician.

The procedure will not take long and in most cases, it will take about 5 minutes to remove the hair under each arm.

Is there any pain during the procedure?

You might feel a slight stinging sensation during the procedure, but the pain is far less than other hair removal methods such as waxing or electrolysis. If the pain is strong, the power level of the laser can be lowered. However, please understand that it requires more treatments when the power is weakened.

After the treatment care

You can take a shower as usual, but do not scrub the treated areas with soap on the first day. The treated areas might get slightly red, but the redness should disappear shortly. Some of the laser treated hair will remain inside of the follicle, looking like dots.
You may pluck the hair after it grows long enough if you do not feel any resistance.

Is there any damage to the skin?

The majority of people do not have any problems, but occasionally some people may develop scabs, blisters, and pigmentation. This is because the laser reacts not only to the color element of the hair, but also to the melanin of the skin when its melanin level is high.

The scabs or blisters might develop immediately or a few days after the treatment. Such scabs or blisters should heal within 2 to 12 weeks. The pigmentation will usually disappear naturally over the period of time.

Is the laser hair removal for everyone?

The laser cannot successfully eliminate the fine light-colored hair. The treatment is also not recommended for those who have sun tan. We might refuse to offer the service if we determine that it will cause serious skin damage or that successful results will not be achieved.

We ask our client to allow us to take a photograph of the treated area prior to the first treatment as part of our effort to monitor progress. The photo will not be used for any other purposes.
